Prom Opinion

If you love dressing up, taking pictures, dancing and singing with your friends, and eating at fancy restaurants, then prom is the place for you to be on May 4, 2019.

Juniors and seniors only get a few opportunites to go to prom their entire life and you don’t want to miss out.

Although, prom nowadays isn’t what some would say ‘cost friendly’, with prom tickets being $45 per couple just to get in. Buying dinner, buying your fancy dress or tux, and going to after prom can empty pockets too easily. However, prom is only once a year and is said to be one of the most fun nights of your four years of high school. It does cost a lot but if you make it fun, it’s totally worth it.

Prom is an event every high school student should attend at least once, but because of the cost, there may be students who are unable to attend. The night is meant to be a time to kick back and have fun with friends or a significant other. Money can prevent students who can’t afford the tickets or outfit from attending.

Everyone should go to prom, but not everyone needs to spend half their savings on a dress that will be worn one time for three hours max. There are ways for students to have fun at the dance and avoid the costs that can be hefty to pay. Prom tickets can be a set back but the school has made several deals to lower the cost. A cheaper price for a couple of tickets and a deal on Good Friday saving an extra $5.

Instead of buying a crazy expensive dress, opt for a cheap, maybe even used dress. No one will remember that your sister wore it two years prior. Renting a tuxedo may be smart for a few, but in the long run, it will be cheaper to purchase a tuxedo or suit and be able to wear it for years after prom.

Prom is worth your time but not worth breaking the bank.
