Top Artists of 2020
Students had a lot of time to fill with tunes but who was filling their ears?
January 22, 2021
Students experienced what being an online student was for the first time this year. The pandemic forced many students to stay at home and gave them a lot of free time alone. Many students filled the void with some music and tones from their favorite artists.
“Music was a great break in my day and gave me something to fill the void of silence that was covering my house,” sophomore Grace Claspill said.
Students had many artists filling the silence around them making the top three artists Harry Styles, Juice Wrld, and Luke Combs. A few runner ups were Taylor Swift and Megan Thee Stallion.
“I had a lot of different types of music play throughout the pandemic to fit my moods. It was a way for me to escape and made me feel better while I had to be quarantined,” sophomore Emily Grotbeck said.
Students also spent some of their time finding new artists like Kid Laroi and Joji.
“I had music on all the time and one day Kid Laroi started playing and I just started to listen to his music cause I liked it so much,” junior Austin Schlink said.
Students were able to fill in their time and give them a break during the large amounts of school work that they constantly have falling onto their shoulders. Music became a way for students to lift some of the weight off of them.
*Top Artists and Top New Artists were decided based on when the students started listening to them and not when the artist started making music.
