The Spirit Club, run by English teacher Terri Ward, has been collecting toys to spread the holiday cheer. The students have been collecting toys in the lunch room for the Topeka Rescue Mission and the WIBW news station has been working along with them.

One of the main Christmas season staples is the annual picture with Santa Claus that the Spirit Club provided at the Spirit Night basketball game on Dec. 14.

“I think giving back to the community during the holiday season is good because everybody needs a Christmas,” junior Damontel Hendricks said.

The students who make up Spirit Club represent the many different groups of Shawnee Heights, and how these different types of people can come together to help a good cause. Overall, the Spirit Club enjoys helping out the community and is a good representation of the Shawnee Heights student body and its will to volunteer.
